All L.U.C. timepieces are chronometer-certified by the COSC (except movements with no seconds hand), and many even have the prestigious Poinçon de Genève hallmark, although in this case, the Geneve Seal would likely add too much to the price.
The dial
A silver dial is very basic, yet it is the quality of the dial, particularly the beautiful sunburst finish, which is one of the many elements that sets this particular dial, and timepiece, apart from lesser dress watches. The baton indexes are flat and have a polished finish. The hour and minute hands are faceted and polished. A small subsidiary seconds runs continuously at 6 o’clock. There is no-date function, which in our opinion is a good design decision as it reduces clutter and lets the wearer focus on the most important element — the time.
The case
The 18K white gold case has been polished into a mirror coating, with a diameter of 39 mm (crown approximately 41 mm) and a thickness of only 7.13 mm. The width of the lug to the lug is 18 mm in case you want to replace the belt. The dial is protected by anti-glare sapphire crystal and looks flat, although it may be very slightly curved. The bottom cover is clearly visible and there are 8 screws holding it in place. The size of the crown is 3.65 mm. Although the crown is small, it will never pierce your wrist, but it is so small that it is difficult to adjust compared to the large crowns on sports watches. Again, this is a formal watch, so you can expect a smaller crown. On the wrist, it feels very good, thanks in part to the slim and conservative diameter of the case.
