Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days Titanio DLC Replica Watch
On the occasion of the Watches & Wonders exhibition, Panerai unveiled two Special Editions of its flagship Luminor 1950 model.
The Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days Titanio DLC replica watch are each available in a strictly limited edition of only 300 units, both blending historic elements and modern-day technical solutions. The distinctive aesthetic of Officine Panerai's Luminor stems from the period between the 1930s and the 1950s, when this famous Florentine manufacture produced watches for the commandos of the Italian Navy. Both new models feature the historical Luminor 1950 case. The numeral 1950” refers to the year when the case with the iconic lever device, for protecting the winding crown, was designed. Originally, the lever was designed to make the military watches even stronger, and more water resistant.
The historic case was not reproduced by Panerai until 2002, when the first Luminor 1950 (reference number PAM00127) was unveiled. The model was faithful in every detail to the watches of the original period, and it is strongly associated with the past history of the brand. There is a slight difference between the Luminor case and the Luminor 1950 case, since the first was only inspired by the modern history of Panerai, and they feature a slightly revised design.
The two new models feature a small commemorative engraving that makrs their historical connections with Panerai: the date “1950” is engraved on the lever protecting the winding crown. The case is made of lightweight titanium coated with DLC - Diamond-Like Carbon. Same as its historical predecessor, the new models measure 47 mm in diameter. The watches are mounted on brown leather strap with contrasting stitching, with the Oficine Panerai insignia stamped upon it.
Two models differ from each other on the dial. The reference PAM617 features a black dial with classic Panerai design with large bar markers and figures, and a seconds counter at 9 o'clock. The dial is graced with OP logo, and it has a traditional sandwich structure. The other model, PAM00629 has a black dial with Roman and Arabic numerals. This type of dial is known as California dial, and it mimics the design of the first Panerai watch in history, the Radiomir of 1936.
The watches are powered by the P.3000 caliber, which is a hand-wound movement endowed with a power reserve of three days (72 hours). Most of the wheelwork is covered by wide, brush-finished, chamfered bridges. Needless to say, the movement is designed and built in-house, by the Officine Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. Both watches are water resistant to 100 meters.
